Foreign Minister Wang Yi embarked on a three-day tour in Mongolia, during which he met the president and his counterpart in the nation's capital of Ulaanbaatar.

Wang said the two neighbours will strengthen cooperation in areas pertaining to minerals and green development.

Having met Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh on the first day of his visit, Wang stressed China and Mongolia are eternal neighbours as well as strategic partners.

This as Khurelsukh noted Ulaanbaatar hopes to achieve its target of 20 billion US dollars in bilateral trade this year, adding that Mongolia remains steadfast in adhering to the One-China policy.

The Mongolian leader also said his nation will never engage in any activities with other nations that could potentially harm China's interests.

Speaking with Mongolian counterpart Battsetseg Batmunkh, Wang said China is willing to expand bilateral trade, while the latter highlighted the importance that Ulaanbaatar places on China's 15th Five Year Plan.
