Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney vow to deepen bilateral ties on Friday.
Wang is the first Chinese foreign minister visiting Canada in a decade. Carney is attempting to repair ties with China following several years of acrimony over issues ranging from the arrest of Huawei's senior executive in 2018, to 100% Canadian tariffs on China-made electric vehicles.
Ottawa push to boost ties has been made more pressing by higher US import tariffs.
Wang says a better China-Canada relationship serves the interests of both countries and is the right choice for Canada.
