The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology scholar who developed MUSICO, short for Multi-Spectral Imaging Carbon Observatory reveals Lai Ka-ying will be the one operating the device in space.

Its first data transmissions are expected as early as June.

The compact high-precision carbon dioxide and methane detector arrived at China's Tiangong space station aboard Tianzhou-10 cargo craft earlier this month.

The device also marks Hong Kong's first scientific payload operating aboard the Tiangong station.
