The Centre for Health Protection was notified by mainland authorities of two Mpox patients having previously engaged in high-risk contact in a Hong Kong venue.

The venue, known as "Hutong", is located on Shanghai Street in Mong Kok.

A sign on the front door noted the store is closed for a day owing to renovation work.

The two men, aged 28 and 30, did not know each other initially.

Both men visited Hutong on the 3rd of this month and engaged in "high-risk contact" during their stay there.

The pair subsequently developed symptoms such as fever as well as pain and swelling in their groins.

The men later tested positive for Mpox and are currently undergoing treatment in the mainland.

According to Hutong's website, the venue offers services for members of the LGBT community and gym-related equipment.

This as the venue was involved with another Mpox case back in 2023.
