Lai Ka-ying's sister says Lai describes herself as a "bee" and likes team building work.
Born and raised in Hong Kong, Lai is originated from Shunde district in Guangdong province.
Speaking to a mainland media, Lai's sister depicts the astronaut as mild tempered and patient.
In 2024, Lai was selected as a payload expert during the recruitment for the fourth batch of preparatory astronauts. In August that year, Lai went to Beijing for training. To support Lai, the sister says the entire family took turns to take care of her three children who are still in primary school.
