Today is Buddha's Birthday. The Hong Kong Buddhist Association hosts a Buddha Bathing Ceremony at the Hong Kong Coliseum to mark the occasion. Chief Secretary for Administration Eric Chan and Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs Alice Mak are among the officials attended the ceremony. In his speech, Chan says Buddhism and the government share a common goal -- to construct a harmonious society. The ceremony is a sacred Buddhist ritual, featuring a baby Buddha statue standing in a basin of water. Worshippers pour water over the statue to symbolise spiritual purification.
