The US is pausing arms sales to Taiwan to ensure it has enough weapons for the Iran war.

This according to the country's acting Navy Secretary Hung Cao.

Cao confirmed this at a Senate hearing on Thursday, after President Donald Trump appeared non-commital
about the sales after his visit to Beijing earlier.

Cao said that in order to have the munitions needed for Operation Epic Fury, "we're just making sure
we have everything, but then the foreign military sales will continue when the administration deems necessary."

The 14 billion-US-dollar package would have included air defence missiles and surface-to-air missiles, according to an earlier Reuters report

Chinese foreign ministry made clear on Thursday that Beijing firmly opposes US arms sales to Taiwan, and to implement consensus reached at the China-US summit.
