A driver drove into a number of pedestrians in the Italian city of Modena on Saturday, injuring 8 people, four of them seriously.

Mayor Massimo Mezzetti says no one was killed, but the four injured includes a woman who was pinned against a shop window and required the amputation of both legs.

The driver was a 31-year-old man born in Bergamo and raised in Modena.

He was detained and was being questioned as authorities worked to determine whether he was under the influence of substances or acted deliberately.
