Alpha Lau, Director-General of Investment Promotion, stated that over 300 companies have set up or expanded their operations in Hong Kong so far this year. She believes that the Northern Metropolis development plan will help attract enterprises from various industries to the city.

The government aims to attract 1,200 companies to establish a presence in Hong Kong within a two-year period starting this year.

Alpha Lau, Director-General of Investment Promotion, noted that as of early May, more than 310 enterprises have set up or expanded their businesses in Hong Kong this year. The direct investment in the first year has exceeded HK$26 billion, and she remains positive about meeting the target.

She pointed out that Mainland enterprises account for more than half of these companies, which she believes is related to the dedicated task force established by the government to help Mainland enterprises "go global." She added that attracting businesses requires new policies.
