Transport chief visited new Terminal 2 at HK Airport

Secretary for Transport and Logistics Mable Chan visited the new Terminal 2 at the airport, which will open at the end of the month.

Chan said in her blog that she visited there twice to inspect the hardware and software readiness. Last Thursday, the Airport Authority arranged for over a thousand people to participate in a comprehensive operational test.

They simulated the entire process of passengers arriving at Terminal 2 via the Airport Express and Airport Bus, completing check-in, dropping off luggage, and then taking the rapid transport system to the boarding gate.

Chan also said the transportation infrastructure is ready. Car Parking Lot 3 is already open, and the departure level drop-off area will gradually open this month. 

The Airport Express will begin serving both terminals next Wednesday, with trains opening their doors on both sides at Airport Station. 

Terminal 2 can divert approximately 8 million departing passengers annually, helping to alleviate pressure on Terminal 1, especially the departure level drop-off area.
