8 killed in drone attacks on Beirut highway before Israel-Lebanon talks in Washington

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the United Arab Emirates and met the Emirati president during the war with Iran, a statement from the Prime Minister's Office says Wednesday in what would be their first confirmed meeting.
However, the UAE's official news agency WAM denies the meeting had occured.
Meanwhile, Israeli drones struck three vehicles on the main highway south of Beirut Wednesday killing eight people.
The Israeli drones hit the vehicles killing eight people including a woman and her two children just a day before Lebanon and Israel are set to hold talks in Washington.
Malak Harb from the Associated Press said: "Israeli drones struck multiple vehicles and areas of Lebanon, including south of Beirut, killing at least eight people, including a woman and her two children. The latest wave of airstrikes come a day before Lebanon and Israel are scheduled to hold another round of direct talks in Washington."
This as nearly 59 children have been killed or injured in Lebanon over the past week, according to UNICEF.
The reporter said, "The Israeli military said it has been striking Hezbollah infrastructure in several areas in southern Lebanon hours after warning residents of six southern villages to leave. Hezbollah continued to claim attacks on Israeli troops in Lebanon and in northern Israel."
The United Nations says they are increasingly concerned the fighting between Hezbollah and Israeli soldiers is putting peacemakers at risk in and around UN bases.
Farhan Haq, deputy spokesman for the Secretary-General, said: "Our peacekeepers from the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) say they are increasingly concerned about the activities of Hezbollah members and Israeli soldiers near UN positions, including the increased use of drones, which has resulted in explosions in and around their bases and that puts peacekeepers at risk."
"On Monday, three presumed Hezbollah drones detonated in an area where Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers could have been present, within meters of UNIFIL's Naqoura headquarters. Another drone detonated in the same area on Tuesday."
A few minutes later, a presumed Hezbollah drone detonated inside UNIFIL's Naqoura headquarters. No one was injured, but some buildings were damaged.
UNIFIL continues to remind all actors to avoid operating in proximity of United Nations positions and personnel, and further urge all actors to avoid any actions that could put peacekeepers in danger.
