Some humanoid robots that recently competed in a half-marathon in Beijing have now been put to work picking tea leaves in a plantation in Fujian.

In a tea plantation in Fuding City in Fujian Province, several robots that took part as "athletes" in the Beijing Yizhuang humanoid robot half-marathon are now working alongside humans in tea picking and processing.

Among them is the robot Lightning, which previously "broke" the best human half-marathon record.

It is responsible for transporting tea leaves along mountainous paths, handling rough terrain with ease.

Inside the factory, other robots assist with tea roasting.

Engineering teams are using this initiative to collect data, aiming to address labour shortages in the tea industry in the future.
