"One bouquet is for our mother and another one for grandmother. We wanted to thank mum for taking care of us," these two siblings said. "My bouquet is about 500 dollars, but I think it would be at least 600-700 dollars in the past," she said. While the festival is a time to express gratitude to mothers, a mum said it's "alright" to take care of the family. CLAIRE, Resident: "You need to prioritise your time, your effort on something more important. Before, you read, run, but now you probably gonna focus on the kids and the work." Several flower boutiques said that they hadn't noticed a drop in business compared to previous years, adding that customers don't mind spending a few extra dollars on Mother's Day. Apart from flowers, many residents would meet up for family dinners. This Chinese restaurant has launched special meal sets for the occasion. The manager said they hadn't adjusted much of the meal prices even when the cost of operation had increased.
