In a bid to regulate people flow at Hong Kong's campsites during the holidays, authorities are looking into introducing a registration and fee system.

This as some academics suggested the government can follow similar measures adopted at other natural landmarks in the city.

Authorities are considering such measures after heaps of rubbish were left at several of Hong Kong's campsites after the mainland's Golden Week holiday period.

A senior member of the World Wildlife Fund's Hong Kong branch noted that certain protected nature sites in the city have instituted tourist regulation measures such as only allowing group tours and prior registration for designated permits.

While the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department said it will assess its country park management strategy in accordance with its experience with the recent Golden Week holidays.
