Water supply restored to Tsing Yi estates following overnight emergency repairs

The Water Supplies Department conducted overnight emergency repairs on a burst fresh water main pipe in Tsing Yi.
Following the burst fresh water main pipe, the Water Supplies Department dispatched temporary water tanks outside Greenfield Garden and provided water bags to residents.
Many families, young and old, were seen bearing pots and containers to collect water.
This resident says what the water trucks provided are enough, noting the bags given to those who didn't bring their own containers are hygienic.

The Water Supplies Department aimed to restore supply to Greenfield Garden by 10 a.m., but that was pushed back owing to the complexity of the repairs.
Work was eventually completed by 11:30 a.m.
The incident began at around 8 last night when a 400mm-diameter fresh water pipe on Tsing Yi Heung Sze Wui Road suddenly burst.
Muddy water gushed into the neighbourhood, affecting the water supply of around ten housing estates in the district.
The WSD worked through the night to repair the pipe and reroute the water supply, with most estates seeing service restored starting at 2 a.m.
