The government has eased rules allowing dogs into restaurants.

The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department will begin accepting permit applications from eateries from May 18th.

With the exception of hotpot, teppanyaki and barbecue restaurants, all fully licenced food premises with an area larger than 20 square metres will be eligible to apply.

The FEHD is expected to notify the first batch of successful applicants in mid-June, and allow time for the industry to brief restaurant operators on the statutory requirements and other compliance arrangements.

A list of permitted restaurants will be published on a dedicated government site.
