China's top diplomat Wang Yi met with a delegation led by Steve Daines, a U.S. Republican senator of Montana in Beijing.

Wang Yi said that this is the first bipartisan senator delegation from the US after Trump takes office, which has important symbolic significance. He said he hopes they will feel the new atmosphere of China's development, build new bridges of communication and explore new areas of cooperation.

Wang Yi said Sino-US relations are related to the well-being of the two peoples and affect the stability of the world pattern. China's policy towards the United States has been consistent.

Over the past year, President Xi Jinping and President Trump have met by phone many times, calibrating the direction of relations between the two countries at critical moments. China is willing to work with the United States to implement the important consensus of the two heads of state, so that Sino-US relations can truly stabilise and improve, benefit the two countries and benefit the world.

The delegation led by Dianes began their China visit last Friday and visited Shanghai and Beijing. Dianes is an ally of Trump, and analysts believe that his delegation visit to China this time is to start preliminary communication for subsequent high-level interactions between China and the United States.

This is the second visit to China by Dianes after Trump returned to the White House, and in March last year, Dianes visited Beijing, becoming the first high-ranking official from the Republican camp to visit China after Trump's second term began.
