US President Donald Trump again expresses his enthusiasm about his expected meeting with President XI Jinping later this month.

Trump says he sees friendly competition with China when it comes to artificial intelligence.

Trump said, "but in 11 months, $18 trillion investments. We have auto plants being built all over the country,
AI plants we're doing, and we are leading China in AI." "And I am going to see President Xi in two weeks. I look forward to that, but I will say, 'I'm leading.'" "We have friendly - we have very friendly competition, but it'll be - actually, it'll be a very important trip," said Trump.

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on Monday said Presidents Xi and Trump will also discuss the opening of Strait of Hormuz when they meet.

In an interview on a Fox News Channel programme, he urged China to intensify its diplomatic efforts to persuade Iran to open the strait for shipping.

Last week, Chinese Ambassador to the UN Fu Cong also said that if the strait remains closed by the time of Trump's planned visit to China, "the issue will be high on the agenda of the bilateral talks," adding that China-US relations go "far beyond" the strait.
