Trump's "Operation Freedom" to escort ships from Strait of Hormuz has led US and Iranian forces exchange fire over the strategic waterway. The UAE said on Monday that it came under attack and its air defence systems intercepted 12 ballistic missiles, three cruise missiles and four drones launched from Iran, which it said resulted in three moderate injuries. American forces reportedly sank six small Iranian ships during the first phase of the escort mission. Tehran has denied combat vessel losses but accused the US of killing five civilians. Trump's announcement to guide ships through Hormuz came Sunday, with Iran condemning it as a major breach to the three-week ceasefire. There were few signs of ships taking advantage of "Project Freedom," which began Monday, though the U.S. said two U.S.-flagged merchant ships safely transited with its help.
