According to Iran's Tasnim news agency the country has submitted a 14-point counterproposal to the US's Middle East war peace plan.

Tasnim news agency said while Washington's plan calls for a two-month ceasefire, Tehran is pushing for a 30-day timeline to resolve key issues insisting talks focus on "ending the war" rather than a temporary truce.

It said Iran's demands include US troop withdrawal from areas near its borders guarantees of non-aggression, and economic steps such as lifting the naval blockade releasing frozen assets, easing sanctions, and paying compensation.

The proposal also calls for ending hostilities across multiple fronts including Lebanon and establishing a new governing mechanism for the Strait of Hormuz a vital global oil route.

Tasnim said Iran is awaiting a formal US response.

US President Donald Trump said he was reviewing the new Iranian proposal to end the Middle East war but also expressed skepticism it would lead to a deal.

Shortly after speaking to reporters Trump posted on social media about the new proposal saying he can't imagine that it would be acceptable in that they have not yet paid a big enough price for what they have done to Humanity and the World, over the last 47 years.

Meanwhile, the Israeli military continued to carry out strikes across southern Lebanon destroying homes they describe as infrastructure being used by Hezbollah.

Israel's military used bulldozers to destroy parts of a Catholic convent that had been empty as a result of the latest fighting.

The Israeli military issued a statement saying that as the army was destroying Hezbollah infrastructure in Yaroun a house that had no religious signs was damaged.

It added that as soon as the military knew it was linked to a church soldiers "prevented any further damage from being done."

The military added that Hezbollah used the compound in the past to fire rockets towards Israel on several occasions.

Elsewhere, Pope Leo XIV once again called for peace while ordaining four priests as bishops in an elaborate ceremony at the Vatican.

In his homily, he said "chosen by God" were those who "oppose plans that crush the weak and use conflict to select the strongest while neglecting those left behind."
