Today is the Labour Day public holiday, and also part of the mainland Golden Week holidays. The Sai Kung East Country Park area attracted local visitors and tourists on the first day of the May Day holidays. At the East Dam of the High Island Reservoir, there were a large number of tourists in the morning. Many people chose to take taxis, causing congestion and even situations where people and vehicles competed for road space. Police officers were on the scene directing traffic, and traffic control was temporarily implemented. The Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department deployed staff to instruct tourists to queue at the Po Pin Chau viewing platform. The government had previously anticipated a significant increase in visitors to the Sai Kung East Country Park area during the Golden Week holiday and strengthened management through inter-departmental collaboration.
