Financial Secretary Paul Chan announced that the government will provide a 0.5-dollar-per-litre LPG subsidy to taxis, public minibuses and private school buses.

The two-month relief scheme is expected to be rolled out next month.

Secretary for Environment and Ecology Tse Chin-wan: "All the changes in the oil prices, we can monitor and we know what the changes are. And therefore, with the reporting and the auditing system, we are very confident the oil companies will not be able to rip out the subsidies."

Secretary for Transport and Logistics Mable Chan: "We will discuss amongst ourselves and identify the suitable resources so as to ensure the measure can be rolled out as soon as possible."
