Residents of Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po are returning to their flats for the tenth day. They are granted access to Wang Tai House, where the highest number of fatalities was seen. The deadly blaze claimed 82 lives. Many flats are severely damaged, with broken window frames and extensive destruction. Deputy Chief Secretary for Administration Cheuk Wing-hing visited the site. He said clinical psychologists and social workers are accompanying residents, especially those who lost family members, throughout the process. Residents are briefed and shown photos to prepare them emotionally. Support continues during and after they return to their units. Over the past nine days, the home-bound arrangements have been completed in multiple Wang Fuk Court blocks, covering 951 households and over 3,460 residents. Authorities also handled 75 assistance requests. Some residents found unrelated belongings in their flats. The government said it will help clear the items. For disputes between tenants and landlords over access quotas, officials hope both sides can undergo negotiations, but additional arrangements may be made if needed. Further access arrangements will be reviewed after the first phase ends on May 4.
