US authorities have filed murder charges against the roommate of two University of South Florida doctoral students who went missing earlier this month. The suspect made an initial court appearance on Saturday. A hearing is scheduled for April 28th. The 27-year-old couple Zamil Limon and Nahida Bristy came from Bangladesh and were considering marriage before they disappeared on April 16th from a USF campus. Limon was last seen at an off-campus apartment complex which he shared with roommate Hisham Abugharbieh, and Bristy was last seen an hour later at a campus science building. Hillsborough County chief deputy said the remains of Limon's body were found on Friday morning on the Howard Frankland bridge and the cause of his death was pending autopsy results. The search for Bristy continues. The local sheriff has charged 26-year-old Abugharbieh, a native-born US citizen, with two counts of first-degree murder with a weapon in the deaths of the two students. University records show Abugharbieh attended the USF from Spring 2021 to Spring 2023 to pursue a bachelor's degree in Management, but he was not currently enrolled. The assailant was taken into custody on Friday on preliminary charges including unlawfully moving a dead body, failure to report a death, tampering with evidence, false imprisonment and battery. This as a SWAT team encountered him after receiving a report of domestic violence at his family's residence just north of the campus. Abugharbieh, who barricaded himself inside their home, finally came out raising his hands up. He appeared in a Tampa court, handcuffed, via a video conference on Saturday morning and was ordered to be held without bond.
