Residents of Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po continued to return in batches today to retrieve belongings from their flats, as access to Wang Cheong House and Wang Yan House entered its second day. In the morning, residents carrying shopping bags and backpacks first registered at the Tai Po Community Hall before heading back upstairs. Police, firefighters, Civil Aid Service personnel and other staff were on hand to assist throughout the process. Yesterday, access was granted to five floors of Wang Cheong House and ten floors of Wang Yan House, with a total of 424 residents from both buildings returning over the course of the day. Authorities recorded five cases of residents feeling unwell or requiring psychological support, and eight reports of suspected lost property — six of which were later recovered. Officials said special emotional and psychological support would be provided to residents from the worst-affected blocks, including Wang Cheong House and Wang Tai House, where the highest number of fatalities were recorded. Each household is being escorted by a police officer during their visit. For units where deaths occurred, a clinical psychologist and a social worker from the Social Welfare Department are accompanying residents throughout the entire process.
