Govt to roll out new water seepage rules mid-year

The government will introduce new measures for investigating water seepage in private buildings as early as mid-year. 

Under the new mandate, owners will have 28 days to carry out repairs, or they may have to pay investigation costs of at least 17,000 dollars. 

Speaking on a radio programme, Donald Ng, Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene says the streamlined procedure will more accurately locate the source of seepage and help shorten the time to issue repair notices from 71 days to 14 days.
