Search continues for the hiker missing on MacLehose Trail

The 79-year-old man, who went missing during the amber rainstorm while hiking on the MacLehose Trail, has not yet been found.

Officers from multiple government departments are continuing the search and rescue operation.

The weather, however, was unstable this morning, making the search difficult.

The missing man is 1.6 metres tall and weighs about 60 kilograms.

He was last seen in a blue-checked long-sleeved shirt, black pants and dark blue shoes, while carrying a black crossbody bag.

It is understood that the missing is a mainlander who is in Hong Kong visiting relatives.

He went hiking with his wife along Section 10 of the MacLehose Trail Saturday morning.

While his wife left the trail during bad weather, he stayed behind and they lost contact shortly after. 

Rescue teams found one of his shoes at a temple near the Thousand Island Lake.
