The government's "two-dollar flat rate or 80 percent discount" public transport concessionary scheme took effect yesterday, but TVB News found some rebate machines malfunctioned.

Kowloon Motor Bus or KMB said its refund machines have resumed operations today.

But TVB News discovered the operations of some machines remain suspended.

A rebate machine in Sha Tin does not accept Octopus card or JoyYou Card. The only method to collect the refund is to use credit cards.

Secretary for Labour and Welfare Chris Sun said the government has requested KMB to submit a report regarding the matter, stressing that no public money will be lost because of such operational issues.
