Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, Rosanna Law expects over one million tourists will visit Hong Kong during the mainland's May Day Golden Week holiday this year. Speaking in a radio programme on Saturday, she also said the situation in the Middle East has not affected the willingness of tourists from Europe and the United States to visit Hong Kong. In the first three months of this year, Hong Kong received over 14 million visitors, a year-on-year increase of 17%. Rosanna Law pointed out that this was mainly due to a series of major events, especially the "Art March," including Art Basel and the LIV Golf Tour Hong Kong leg. She also pointed out that Hong Kong has a series of major events coming up soon, including the International Sevens Rugby Tournament in two weeks, and the Cheung Chau Bun Scrambling Contest. Law said even the turbulent situation in the Middle East has not diminished the willingness of overseas tourists to visit Hong Kong. Law noted some tourists want to stay at the world's best hotel, which is in Hong Kong, and the best bars, which are also in Hong Kong.
