U.S. Army Chief of Staff Randy George has been forced to resign -- reportedly at the request of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. The news was confirmed on the social media page of the Department of Defense spokesman Sean Parnell without giving a reason for George's departure. US media reported that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has ousted the Army's top uniformed officer. George has held the post since 2023 under the Biden administration. The tenure typically runs for four years. The current vice chief of staff Christopher LaNeve is reportedly considered as a replacement. LaNeve was serving as Hegseth's top military aide when Trump nominated him to be the Army's vice chief of staff last October. The ouster marks the latest of more than a dozen firings of top generals and admirals by Hegseth since he took office last year.
