The Observatory says unsettled weather will persist through the Easter and Ching Ming Festival holidays with showers expected under the influence of a trough of low pressure.
On the eve of Ching Ming, overcast skies set over Victoria Harbour.
The city's forecaster says a moist easterly airstream is affecting the eastern coast of Guangdong, bringing more downpours and thunderstorms to the area.
The trough of low pressure is expected to linger along southern China over the next couple of days.
HKO says the rainy weather will stay through Wednesday with the conditions likely improving in the latter part of next week.
