A magnitude-7.4 earthquake that struck off Indonesian waters set off tsunami waves this morning, killing at least one person. The country's meteorological agency has lifted the tsunami warning hours after the quake. The tremor was centred in the Molucca Sea at a depth of 35 kilometres, according to the US Geological Survey. The epicentre was about 120 kilometres from the city of Ternate in North Maluku Province where initial assessments showed light to moderate damage. Within half an hour of the quake, tsunami waves were recorded at multiple monitoring stations including in West Halmahera with a height of 30 centimetres. Authorities reported a 70-year-old woman was killed when a building collapsed in Manado, North Sulawesi Province and another resident was injured.
