The Observatory issued the Amber Rainstorm Warning this morning as the city was affected by intense thunderstorm clusters, that brought squally showers and thunderstorms.

At around 10 a.m., Tsuen Wan, Yuen Long, and the North District recorded rainfall between 5 and 11 millimetres, prompting the weather forecaster to issue the Amber Rainstorm Warning.

At Lau Fau Shan, wind gusts exceeded 100 kilometres per hour. The signal was cancelled at 11 a.m.

The Observatory estimated that the city will see ocassional showers in the middle of this week.

As a trough of low pressure is expected to edge closer to the coast of Guangdong, local weather will be unstable during the Easter holiday and Ching Ming Festival.
