Residents recalled safety concerns and voting procedure at hearing on Tai Po fire

The Independent Committee in relation to the fire at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po held its fifth hearing at the City Gallery in Central. 7 residents and 3 members of a fire engineering company gave their testimony, including Yip Ka-kui who lived in Wang Tai House. 

Yip recalled seeing cigarette butts near his bathroom window before the fire. Prestige Construction responded that it appeared to have been left by workers.

After Typhoon Ragasa hit, he reported to the contractor that the netting looked thinner and different in color, but received no response.

Yip also mentioned that in the owners' corporation sessions, he had seen that ISS management staff put in many more ballots after the residents had cast their votes. Many strangers would participate when important decisions were to be made.
