Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy said his country has inked security-related 10-year agreements with Saudi Arabia and Qatar during an official tour in the region. Zelenskyy was greeted by Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, in Doha on Saturday. Zelenskyy said the agreements comprised joint production, cooperation in the energy sector, investment and sharing battlefield experience as Ukraine intends to use its drone expertise to help Gulf Arab states blunt Iran's attacks. The Ukrainian president stated: "Simple sales do not interest us." He told reporters that Ukraine is in need of "systemic relationships" where "exporters earn revenue and Ukraine receives sufficient funds to invest in domestic production." Zelenskyy also reported on a meeting with his Emirati counterpart, Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, on regional security amid the Iran war and said a similar deal with the United Arab Emirates will be finalised in the coming days.
