Israel's defense minister said attacks on Iran "will escalate and expand." Israel Katz made the comment in a statement where he and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu "warned the Iranian regime to stop firing missiles at the civilian population in Israel." It comes as Israel launched a new wave of strikes on Iran on Friday. The Israeli military said the attack "in the heart of Tehran" targeted sites used by Iran to produce ballistic missiles and other weapons. It said it also hit missile launchers and storage sites in western Iran. Meanwhile, rescuers from the Iranian Red Crescent were seen searching for survivors under the rubble of destroyed buildings in Tehran and Urmia following strikes on the cities. The Red Crescent said that the strikes struck residential areas. The latest clasehes come after US President Donald Trump extended a deadline for reopening the Strait of Hormuz until April 6th. He said Iran asked for the grace period and that talks were going "very well." This, despite the fact Iran continues to publicly insist it is not negotiating with the White House on a 15-point proposal to end the conflict. Trump has said the US will destroy Iran's energy plants if there is no breakthrough before his self-imposed deadline.
