HK's "The Chairman" topped culinary chart in Asia's 50 Best Restaurants

At the latest Asia's 50 Best Restaurants ranking, Hong Kong restaurant "The Chairman" topped the culinary chart.

"The Chairman" is said to "rewrite classic Cantonese cooking" with "a fiercely loyal local clientele," which now "combines with international visitors aplenty." Located in Central, the restaurant features house specials Sichuan peppercorn stewed oxtail and steamed flowery crab dish -- noted too in the Asia's 50 Best Restaurants ranking.

Close behind, another Hong Kong restaurant "Wing" secured the No. 2 spot. Also located in Central, it reimagines various Chinese regional classics while fusing Western culinary techniques.

The city also placed four more entries on the list, including Caprice, Neighborhood, Mono and Estro -- one less than last year. 

Across Asia, Bangkok Thailand's Gaggan ranked third.

The annual list is compiled by more than 350 leaders in the restaurant industry across the continent -- each selected for their expert opinion of Asia's restaurant scene, overseen by global adjudication company Deloitte.
