Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the latest Russian attacks on the historic city of Lviv is clear evidence that Moscow "has no intention" of ending the war.

A Russian drone attack on Ukraine's western city of Lviv hit an apartment block in broad daylight and caused at least 13 people hospitalised with injuries. The number of victims was expected to rise.

A 17th-century St. Andrew's Church which is part of a UNESCO World Heritage site was also set ablaze, said the country's prime minister Yulia Svyrydenko, who accused the Russians of deliberately going after civilians.

Video footage showed firefighters attempting to put out the fire erupted from the roof of residential buildings near the church.

The city mayor said he has never seen anything like this in his memory because the attacks targeted on the heart of Lviv, a UNESCO zone, whereas it was not shot when there were Germans and musketeers, "everyone tried to protect it." "But Muscovites have nothing sacred, they attack," he added.

Russian forces carried on the onslaught by firing hundreds of long-range drones along with 23 cruise missiles and seven ballistic missiles on Ukraine in their biggest attacks in weeks.

Ukraine's foreign minister said at least seven cities were hit by swarms of Iranian-designed Shahed drones.

In the central city of Dnipro, daytime strikes wounded at least 13 people, including three children.

Meanwhile, an attack damaged maternity hospitals and some ten apartment buildings in Ivano-Frankivsk city. Two individuals were killed and four sustained injuries.

Russians ramped up their strikes from March 17th and sent heavy equipment and additional troops to the front line.

Oleksandr Syrskyi, commander-in-chief of Ukraine's armed forces, said fierce fighting unfolded simultaneously along "the entire line of contact" recently and that "occupiers are attempting to bring up new units."

The general emphasised Ukraine had deployed reinforcements to counter assaults in strategic areas.

In his evening address, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the scale of Russian aggression on Tuesday strongly indicates that Moscow has "no intention" of really ending the war. He also claimed Russia has been assisting the Iranian regime to carry out strikes across the region.
