An explosion and fire at an automotive parts manufacturing facility in Daejeon, South Korea, has claimed at least 14 lives and left 59 others wounded.

All missing persons have now been accounted for.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.

Rescue workers recovered the remains of bodies from the charred wreckage of an auto parts plant in the central city of Daejeon.

170 workers were inside the complex belonging to Anjun Industrial when the blaze broke out at around 1:17 p.m. local time on Friday.

The first victim was said to be found in cardiac arrest on the second floor and was later pronounced dead. Nine other victims were discovered in a gym on the third floor.

The country's president Lee Jae Myung met with relatives of the victims Saturday afternoon, urging safety measures to prevent the destroyed structure from collapsing during search operations.

The Chinese embassy in South Korea said no Chinese nationals were among the casualties.
