Wang Wentao and Apple CEO Tim Cook meet in Beijing for talks

Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao met with visiting Apple CEO Tim Cook on Friday. 

Cook pointed out China is Apple's most important production base and the primary source of its supply chain. 

Wang underscored the important consensus following six rounds of trade talks between the two countries, adding China is advancing high-standard opening up and focusing on building stable, resilient, green and innovative industrial and supply chains. 

Wang said it is hoped that Apple will keep firm confidence in its development in the country and share the opportunities presented by China's development.

Cook stated the company has been continuously boosting its innovation cooperation, green development and industrial chain collaboration in China which is aligned with the 15th Five-Year Plan. 

On the same day, Wang held talks with the chairman of Eli Lilly & Co., expressing hope that the pharmaceutical giant will deepen its commitment in China and seek greater growth.
