Thailand's incumbent Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul won a parliamentary vote to stay in office. The leader of the Bhumjaithai Party received 293 votes, exceeding the required majority of the 498 members who attended the House of Representatives session. Bhumjaithai won 191 seats in the February general election, and has since built a coalition with several other parties. The progressive People's Party, which finished second in the election, did not join the government and remains in opposition. Anutin has seen a surge in popularity following his self-presentation as a defender of the nation during the Thailand-Cambodia border conflict.
