Father hitting son sentenced to 12 months of probation

A 31-year-old father hit his 5-year-old son and was sentenced to 12 months of probation order.

Last May, the defendant hit his son on the buttocks and legs with a clothes hanger because the boy didn't pick up the toilet seat. His kindergarten teacher and a social worker called the police after they found the injuries for the second time.

Chung Ming-sun, the Principal Magistrate of Kwun Tong Magistrates' Courts acknowledged that the crime was out of momentary anger, and believed that the defendant's confession showed remorse. He was sentenced to 12 months of probation order.
