Foreign minister Wang Yi met the UAE Special Envoy for China in Beijing, pointed out that the China-Arab strategic partnership is more prominent amid the war raging in the Middle East.

He also urged avoiding further casualties and losses, and pledged China's efforts for mediation to work for ceasefire.

Foreign Minister Wang Yi welcomed Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, special envoy of the President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to China, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

During the meeting, Wang said China-Arab relations have made great progress.

The comprehensive strategic partnership between China and the Arab states has become even more prominent amid the hostilities in the Middle East and the accelerating global changes and uncertainties.

Wang said timely communication and enhanced mutual trust between the two sides are important and will help restore peace and stability to the Middle East.

Wang emphasized that China is willing to maintain close high-level exchanges with the UAE, deepen strategic alignment, and elevate the two countries' comprehensive strategic partnership to a new level.

Khaldoon said China-UAE relations are at an unprecedented high.

The UAE regards China as a true, dependable and trustworthy friend, is confident in China's future development, and is willing to strengthen high-level exchanges and deepen cooperation with China in education, culture, energy and the economy.

Khaldoon also gave wang an update on the latest developments in the Middle East.

Wang stressed China's principled position and thanked the UAE for its efforts to safeguard the safety of Chinese citizens and institutions, stressing that the war should never have happened and there is no reason for it to continue, and urging that further casualties and losses be avoided.

Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Khaldoon, the UAE President Special Envoy to China, in Abu Dhabi last December, where they affirmed a long-term strategic partnership.
