A 25-year-old Hong Kong woman is in stable condition after suspected botulism poisoning following receiving botox injection in Seoul, South Korea.
The woman received the injection at a beauty establishment on February 27th.
It remains unclear whether the practitioner there was properly qualified.
After returning to Hong Kong, she developed difficulty swallowing last week.
As symptoms persisted, she sought treatment at Queen Elizabeth Hospital earlier this week and was admitted for care.
The Centre for Health Protection has notified South Korean health authorities, and an epidemiological investigation is ongoing.
Authorities warned that people receiving injections outside Hong Kong should exercise caution and ensure practitioners are properly qualified and registered.
