The Education Bureau has issued class allocation letters to all aided primary schools, revealing that 15 schools will not be allocated any Primary One classes in the coming academic year because of low enrolment -- meaning they could suspend operations in future.

The schools allocated "zero classes" include 14 aided schools and one government school.

Under the current mechanism, if an aided primary school admits fewer than 16 students, it may not be permitted to operate a Primary One class.

But if these schools are willing to merge with other schools, they will be granted a transition period over three school years.
