Foreign Minister Wang Yi headed to Vietnam for a three-day official visit which began on Sunday.

That's to attend the first ministerial meeting of the China-Vietnam "3+3" strategic dialogue on diplomacy, defence and public security.

Accompanied by Minister of Public Security Wang Xiaohong and Minister of National Defence Dong Jun, Foreign Minister Wang Yi reached the venue today for the first ministerial-level China-Vietnam "3+3" strategic dialogue in Hanoi -- received by Vietnamese Minister of National Defence Phan Van Giang.

Also in attendance were Vietnamese Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung and Minister of Public Security Luong Tam Quang.

Foreign Minister Wang Yi says the platform will aim to contribute to a fairer global governance system.

During an earlier meeting on Sunday, Wang adds that the visit comes right on the heels of China's "two sessions," which underscores the strategic significance and their "high-level" bilateral relations.

He says deeper exchanges should be engaged in the first ministerial meeting of the China-Vietnam "3+3" strategic dialogue on diplomacy, defence and public security, and the 17th meeting of the China-Vietnam Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation.

Wang says the advantages of the socialist systems of China and Vietnam are becoming increasingly prominent amid the turmoil of geopolitical situations which also highlights the strategic value of the China-Vietnam community.

Wang adds that the two countries should deepen strategic mutual trust and respond to external uncertainties with the stability of their relations, so as to inject lasting impetus into improving the well-being of the two peoples.

Vietnamese Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung says as friendly neighbours, Vietnam is always willing to support China's development and growth and its greater contributions to the socialist cause, as well as world peace and stability.

Reuters reported that Wang Yi also mentioned in the meeting that China stands ready to jointly tackle energy security issues.

China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs says today as the situation in the Middle East is impacting global energy security, China is willing to strengthen coordination and cooperation with all countries, including Vietnam, over the energy situation.
