The US-Israeli war on Iran has entered into a third week. American forces carried out bombing raids on Iran's Kharg Island hub. And the U.S. embassy in Baghdad in Iraq was hit by a drone on Saturday, with no immediate information on casualties. Donald Trump posted on Truth Social Friday that the US Central Command had bombarded Kharg Island in the latest raids at his direction. The island, which lies in the northeast of Persian Gulf, is a key export terminal for 90 percent of Iran's oil shipments. Trump claimed the US has "totally obliterated" every military target on the island, adding he had chosen not to wipe out its oil infrastructure. The US president wrote he would immediately reconsider that decision if Iran "do anything to interfere with the free and safe passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz." Iran's Fars news agency reported that at least 15 blasts were heard on Kharg amid the US strikes; their air defenses, a naval base and airport facilities were hit, but there was no damage to oil infrastructure. The Islamic Republic responded to the attack by vowing to strike facilities owned by oil companies cooperating with the United States in the region should Iranian oil and energy infrastructure come under attack. Both The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times have reported on the Pentagon's build-up of forces in the Middle East. US defense chief Pete Hegseth said the US-Israeli joint forces had pounded over 15,000 targets and claimed 90 percent of Iran's missiles were demolished. Meanwhile, Iran launched new offensives against US air force bases in Qatar alongside several military targets in southern Israel. The US Department of State offered cash rewards of up to 10 million US dollars for information on Mojtaba Khamenei, the new supreme leader of Iran, as well as some other Iranian senior officials including interior minister Eskandar Momeni, minister of intelligence and security Esmaeil Khatib, and secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani. Washington accused them of heading the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to plot various terrorist activities around the globe. Iran rejected the accusation for their alleged support for terrorism, while criticising Washington's sanctions on Tehran.
