The session of the National People's Congress closed after eight days, passing 11 resolutions, including the 15th Five-Year Plan. Zhao Leji, chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, said that the Plan will strengthen legal safeguards, leveraging the country's institutional strengths to ensure its goals are achieved. The closing ceremony of the National People's Congress session took place at the Great Hall of the People. It was attended by President Xi Jinping and hosted by Zhao Leji, Chairman of the NPC Standing Committee. Deputies voted to adopt 11 resolutions, including those on the government work report and the outline of the national 15th Five-Year Plan. The vote resulted in 2,758 in favour, one against, and two abstentions. Zhao stated that the 15th Five-Year Plan represents a crucial governance practice in the course of socialist modernization. He added that the Plan will strengthen legal safeguards, leveraging the country's institutional strengths to ensure its goals are achieved. Following the ceremony, the Hong Kong deputies' delegation concluded their meeting. Ma Fung-kwok, head of the delegation, said they would seize the opportunities presented by drafting Hong Kong's five-year plan to ensure alignment with the national strategy. Some deputies see significant potential in the Northern Metropolis. Allen Yeung, President of the Greater Bay Area International Information Technology Association, pointed to the importance of establishing an international data centre to support large-scale models and artificial intelligence. The Northern Metropolis is also set to become the home of Hong Kong's third medical school, to be run by HKUST. Professor Nancy Ip, Vice-President of HKUST, views the Northern Metropolis as a collaboration platform for local and overseas higher education institutions. The session of the National People's Congress lasted for eight days, one day longer than last year. A total of three plenary meetings were held to deliberate 11 agenda items, four more than last year.
