A 10-vehicle pile-up occurred on the Tsing Ma Bridge this morning. At least 11 people sustained minor injuries. Traffic heading toward the airport was at one point disrupted for nearly four hours. Dashcam footage captured the moment of the crash. At around 8:30 a.m., several private cars and light goods vehicles were travelling in the fast lane of the Tsing Ma Bridge toward the airport. The vehicle in front suddenly slowed down and switched on its hazard lights. The vehicle behind could not brake in time and collided into it. The accident involved a total of 10 vehicles. One of the vehicles overturned. Glass was scattered all over the road and a wheel came off. Another vehicle was spun around 180 degrees. Several vehicles were badly damaged, with parts scattered across the carriageway. Several people suffered minor injuries and were taken to North Lantau Hospital for treatment. One person is suspected of driving without a licence. Tow trucks arrived to handle the aftermath, and police officers questioned the drivers involved about what happened. Due to the incident, two lanes on the Tsing Ma Bridge in the airport-bound direction were once closed, and the lower deck had to be opened to divert traffic. Traffic to the airport was at one point severely congested, with the tailback extending to the Stonecutters Bridge. During this period, the MTR Tung Chung Line and Airport Express, as well as the Ma Wan–Tsuen Wan ferry service, increased service. By around noon, the accident scene had been cleared and all lanes were reopened.
