Foreign Minister Wang Yi holds press conference on China’s foreign policy

Foreign Minister Wang Yi held a press conference on Sunday on the sidelines of the fourth session of the 14th National People's Congress, when he answered questions of journalists from China and overseas, including those from the U.S .and Russia, on Beijing’s foreign policy and external relations.

On China-U.S. relations, he said the two countries cannot change each other, but if they have sincerity, they will expand the list of areas with common ground, and shorten the list where they have difference.

On the Iran situation, Wang urged an immediate ceasefire and stop to the war, as it is a war that should not happen and provides no benefit to any side, adding that national sovereignty should be respected, and the law of the jungle should not be used.

Wang said in the fast-changing international environment, China will stand on the right side of history under the central government’s leadership with President Xi Jinping at the core. Wang said more and more countries realise China provides an important element of stability.

On the APEC meeting in Shenzhen, Wang mentioned it is the third time China hosts APEC meetings. He said the theme for the Shenzhen APEC meeting is building an Asia Pacific community.

Wang also gave his regards to all women on the occasion of International Women’s Day on March 8.
